Anxiety

Anxiety symptoms might show up as thoughts about “what if” something happens, or as runaway thoughts that you can’t control. You might also notice physical symptoms of anxiety like increased heart rate, shallow breathing, or cold hands and feet. I can help you learn to manage these challenges so anxiety doesn’t have such a hold on your life. We will work together to help you develop a new way of coping with anxiety.

Lasting sadness and a sense of hopelessness might mean you’re struggling with depression. It can be hard to feel connected to others and to find joy in daily living. Together we can find ways to reduce your depressive symptoms and reconnect you to a sense of contentment and hopefulness. You can learn to manage your depression and cope with it in healthy ways. I’m here to support you.

Whether you’re struggling in friendships, romantic, work, or family relationships, it might help to explore coping strategies and communication skills. When the relationships in your life are a source of stress, talking to a neutral, non judgemental therapist can help. Relationship counselling can help you see yourself and others in new ways, and help you improve connections.

Life is hard. Some stress is healthy and helpful, but if you’ve felt the physical and mental tension that comes with stress for long periods of time, you might be noticing the impact of chronic stress on your daily life. Whether you’re experiencing stress related to your job, your home life, or the state of the world around you, we can work on coping strategies and tools to bring some relief.

Trauma and PTSD: Trauma can occur as a result of a single incident, such as a car accident, or as a result of long term events like childhood abuse. In some cases people who have experienced trauma develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I’m trained in EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, which is one method we can use to process your traumatic experiences. Whether we use EMDR or another therapeutic method, there is hope after trauma.

Loss occurs in many forms, from the loss of a loved one to the loss of a job or friendship. Supporting you in your grieving process is one of the great honours of my job as a therapist. Your grief journey is unique and I can help you find the tools and coping strategies to move forward as you grieve. Grief looks different for everyone, but support and healthy strategies for dealing with loss can help.

Do you struggle with hating the way your body looks? You might be obsessing about what foods you eat or what physical activities you do. If you are struggling with body image, I can help! I love working with individuals to dismantle our ideas about beauty and health. You can find a new relationship with your body that is about love and wellness, rather than appearance, negativity and a constant desire to change. We will explore your personal relationship with food and your body, and challenge ideas about health, diet, and exercise.

If you’re interested in understanding how your past is impacting your present, in improving your self-worth or self-esteem, or in developing life skills to enhance your everyday experience, then personal growth work is where it’s at. Personal growth therapy is…personal! It looks different for everyone and might include changing your mindset and ideas, or learning behavioural strategies. I’d love to help you become your best self.

If you are caring for a loved one and struggling with being the provider of their care, I can help support you. Being a caregiver is a unique challenge that is often misunderstood. Whether you are caring for an elderly parent, struggling with parenting challenges, or you are the parent of a child with a disability, I can help you develop the skills and mindset to navigate daily life. While you are caring for your loved one, who is caring for you? Taking care of your own wellness is a gift to those you care for.

If you’re someone who feels deeply and has often been labeled as sensitive or emotional, I can relate. I love working with what I call Big Feelers. Your sensitivity can be a super power, but it can also be difficult to manage. I can help you develop coping strategies for emotional regulation and emotional expression, so you can embrace your big feelings and live with more contentment and self worth.

You already have everything you need to create the change you want to see. It's my job to ask the right questions.
